Hi, I’m Julie Blackburn, author, educator, and creator of The Growth Mindset Hub.
As an Educational and Developmental Psychologist in clinical, educational, and developmental settings, I spend most of my time to writing, creating, and sharing growth mindset-based tools for children. My experiences working with families, teachers, and allied health professionals have shaped a deep belief in the power of mindset to transform the way children learn, grow, and see themselves.
All of my resources are grounded in evidence based psychological and educational principles, and designed to be both practical and playful. Through storybooks, games, journals, and hands-on programs, I bring growth mindset theory to life in ways children can connect with and apply.
My characters Frankie Fox, Benjamin Bear, Romi Rabbit, Sammy Squirrel, and Remi Raccoon help children aged 5 to 12 discover that mistakes help us grow, practise helps us improve, perseverance helps us succeed, trying new things helps us feel brave, and effort helps us make progress. Together, these habits help our brains grow stronger and our confidence grow too.
My main focus is on creating engaging, accessible resources for schools, allied health professionals, and families who want to support children’s resilience, confidence, and flexible thinking. Whether it’s through books, board games, online activities, or workshops, I’m passionate about helping the next generation build a mindset that supports lifelong learning and wellbeing.
I hold a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Master of Psychology in Educational and Developmental Psychology, and am formally endorsed in the Educational and Developmental Psychology area of practice.
Thank you for visiting The Growth Mindset Hub. I’m so glad you’re here.
‘Join us in creating a future where every child believes in the power of "yet", where they understand that abilities can be developed, intelligence can grow, and perseverance leads to success.’
Julie Blackburn
